Selecting an alarm monitoring provider is not something that anyone should take lightly. This service helps ensure the safety of your family and property. In the alarm monitoring industry, it is vital for Central Stations to obtain various certifications to ensure safety and deliver quality monitoring service. A company that is able to display a Five Diamond certification badge is a signal to the customer that a monitoring provider will grant you peace of mind for both customer service and alarm monitoring.

TMA stands for the The Monitoring Association and it has been around since 1950. It’s an organization that works with UL-Listed and FM Approved central monitoring facilities. One of its major goals is the development of industry standards to assure optimum central station performance levels. Any central station can join the TMA, if they meet certain criteria. One of which is being UL-Listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc. or FM Approved by Factory Mutual Research Corporation. This is very important.

Being rated by either of these agencies requires very strict guidelines and a substantial investment by the monitoring facility. It also includes continual inspections by these agencies. Since you have to be rated by one or both of these agencies to join theTMA, as a central station, you already know that these companies adhere to higher standards by just being a member. But, theTMA took this one step further by creating theTMA Five Diamond Certification program.

The Five Diamond program is a rigorous and continuous process. In addition to meeting five points of excellence, Central Stations must also commit to training any new operators through the TMA training series. Furthermore, our certificate standing is evaluated every year and renewed on an annual basis. Out of thousands of Central Stations in the United States, less than 200 have been certified as a Five Diamond Central Station. Achieving this certificate is a validation that Vanguard Alarm Services is driven to provide our customers with the highest level of customer service in the industry.
